enhancing strategic management processes at the Board and Chief Executive level and optimizing key operational processes to identify opportunities and issues. He has experience with regulatory and legal compliance programs, cyber and
criminal risk management, process optimization including effective internal controls, third party supplier and project risk management, and human resource risk programs. He is passionate about enabling strategic success through enhanced
risk awareness as part of overall corporate culture, and passionate about implementing targeted value-added programs enhancing the capabilities of individuals and teams. In 2018, with Gennine Richardson, they formed Simplified Risk
Management Inc, based in Vancouver, a consulting firm dedicated to providing simple risk management solutions to small and medium sized businesses.

Manager and Speaker at Industrial Alliance Financial Group. He is dedicated to the implementation of an Operational Risk Management program throughout Canada and the South of the USA for iA Group of companies. He is responsible, in
collaboration with his team, to ensure sound risk management practices throughout the company. More specifically, Olivier is responsible for on-boarding, training and raising awareness of the 1st line of defense.
Saad Ali, Director, Governance, Controls & Operational Risk, CIBC
As the leader of the Governance, Controls and Operational Risk team in CIBC Finance, Saad Ali is responsible for ensuring the bank has a robust governance framework which meets regulatory standards, industry best
practices, and complies with the enterprise’s risk appetite. He plays a multi-dimensional role with managing risk arising from business transformation processes and identifying enhancement opportunities within a Shared Services
model. Saad has over 10 years of experience from various Financial Institutions with roles in Internal Audit for Capital Markets, Regulatory Risk and Finance. He is also a CPA and CA from PwC with a specialization in financial
institutions and asset management. Saad is also involved in teaching roles with York University and CPA Ontario.
Andres Betancourt, CFCS, CAMS, CBE, Senior Audit Manager, AML/ATF & Sanctions, Scotiabank
Andres Betancourt brings over 10 years of experience in Compliance and AML within the financial services industry with Bank of Nova Scotia, Bank of Montreal, Royal Bank of Canada and Grant Thornton LLP. Andres helps lead
the AML Unit Audit function to appropriately assess the design and operational effectiveness of internal controls and adherence to Bank policies and regulatory requirements, particularly those related to AML/ATF and Sanctions Risk
Management across the Bank. While at Bank of Montreal, RBC and Grant Thornton, Andres worked on anti-money laundering and fraud investigations, oversight and testing, quality assurance audits, Compliance Effectiveness reviews, policy
interpretation and regulatory reporting during several years.
Jeremy Holmes, Director, Operational Risk, Corporate Functions, RBC
Jeremy is Director, Operational Risk, Corporate Functions at RBC. Within his current role, Jeremy is responsible for providing Oversight and Challenge to RBC’s Technology and Operations, Human Resources, Finance,
Group Risk Management, Compliance, AML, Internal Audit and a collection of units within the CAO globally. Jeremy has 20 years of financial industry experience, including 5 years in reporting and oversight roles in the CAMLO office of
RBC, 5 years as an operational risk advisor at TD and RBC, and 3 years in Internal Audit at TD Financial Group. His team has successfully rolled out a Program Maturity Assessment across the Corporate Functions at RBC to objectively
evaluate the breadth and maturity of the Operational Risk Program in each unit, thereby allowing management and the lines of business the ability to understand the level of embeddedness of the Operational Risk Management program in
Laura Smith, Director, Risk Management Operations, Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation
Laura Smith is the Director of Risk Management Operations at Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation. Prior to that, she has held various roles over 14 years at CMHC including two years as Director Internal Audit and two
years as Director of Finance. Laura is a CPA and prior to joining CMHC she worked at the Office of the Auditor General of Canada.
Kerry Willett-Vali, Director, Operational Risk and Regulatory Management, RBC
Kerry joined RBC in 1998, and has held a variety of senior operational risk roles in Banking, Insurance and in Corporate Functions. In her current role as Director, Operational Risk and Regulatory Management, she is
accountable for the first line of defense operational risk management function for Group Risk Management globally. Previously, Kerry was Director, Operational Risk Advisory and Oversight where she had responsibility for providing second
line of defence oversight of the Personal & Commercial Banking and Insurance Segments. Prior to these roles, Kerry directed large first line operational and underwriting teams at RBC Insurance.
Kerry holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree; a Canadian Risk Management designation from The Global Risk Management Institute; and a Chartered Insurance Professional designation from The Insurance Institute of Canada.
Jamie Pearson, Director, Risk Management, Meridian Credit Union
Jamie leads the development and maintenance of all Enterprise Risk Management and Operational Risk Management processes at Meridian and its national bank subsidiary, motusbank, including enterprise-wide and project risk
assessments, risk appetite, and coordination of all activities under the Operational Risk Management Framework. He manages the activities of Meridian's Management Risk Committee and Operational Risk Committee, placing a strong emphasis
on developing practical solutions and adding value through risk management. Jamie was previously a Management Consultant with Oliver Wyman focusing on Enterprise Risk Management for non-FIs.
Tanna Brodbar, Vice President, Operational Risk Management, Great-West Lifeco
Tanna Brodbar holds a Master of Arts in Humanities from York University and an MBA in Leadership from European University Business School. Tanna is Vice President of Operational Risk Management at Great-West Lifeco, where
she leads the corporate group that establishes, executes, monitors and manages the Corporation’s operational risk management and oversight methodologies and practices. Tanna also heads up the Corporation’s supplier risk and
fraud risk oversight functions. A highly strategic leader, Tanna is known for her ability to be effective in diverse businesses and functions, successfully tackling tough challenges, and developing high-performing teams that deliver.
When time permits, Tanna enjoys teaching and speaking about leadership and business management. Aside from her family,Tanna’s other personal passion is Muay Thai kickboxing and you can find her battling it out several nights each
week in a mid-town Toronto kickboxing gym.

Juan Rodriguez, Senior Manager, Global Operational Risk, Scotiabank
Juan brings with him more than 25 years of successful experience in the financial industry. In the public sector, he worked in the Central Bank and Superintendence of Financial institutions in Ecuador. His journey in the
private sector includes working in Diners Club, BMO, CIBC, and Scotiabank, where he currently acts as Senior Manager in Operational Risk for International Banking. He has been part of the Second Line and the First Line of Defence. His
experience, along with his curiosity, customer-focus and result-oriented mindset have enabled him to successfully implement Operational Risk Management programs. He has a Master degree in Business Economics, a Bachelor degree in Business
Administration and a College degree in Systems Design.
Tatyana Kalita, Assistant Vice President, Risk Governance, ERM, The Great West Life Assurance Company
Tatyana leads the implementation of the Governance Risk and Compliance program for 20,000+ employees across multiple Lifeco functions and geographies. She is also responsible for development and implementation of
operational risk quantification methodology (FAIR-based) and operationalizing enterprise risk assessment framework. Tatyana was previously in charge of the Risk Governance department of the company, where she built and operationalized
enterprise risk policy framework, risk governance, board reporting, risk culture assessment methodologies.
Formerly, Tatyana was a part of the Technology Risk Centre of Governance and Operational Risk Team, Technology and Operations, at the Royal Bank of Canada. Before that, she consulted the United States Embassy on physical
security, economic and political matters. Tatyana founded two service companies (translation services and GIPS compliance verification) that successfully operate on the European and Canadian markets. Tatyana started her career working
for the largest Belarusian retailer of high fashion and premium cosmetics brands and was the person who brought Max Mara fashion house to Belarus
Tatyana has an M.B.A. from Rotman School of Management and an undergraduate degree in education and psychology. She is a certified personal trainer passionate about tennis and long leisurely walks. Tatyana loves to travel,
explore new wines and cuisines and host friends at her home.
