Dan Batista, Executive Director, Institute for Citizen-Centred Service (ICCS)

Dan joined the ICCS in April 2015. He leads a dynamic team that helps public sector organizations pursue service excellence through research, learning, collaboration and professional development. Previously, Dan worked for the Government of Canada as a Senior Director leading a number of innovative teams that provide services to small businesses and entrepreneurs including the Canada Business Network and BizPaL. Dan has a Master of Public Administration degree from Carleton University and a Master of Electronic Commerce degree from Dalhousie University. Dan received a 2012 Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, and the Institute for Citizen-Centred Service 2013 Ralph Heintzman Leadership Award for his commitment and leadership to developing and delivering client-centric services across all levels of government.

Jason Blackwell, Strategic Advisor, Spectrum Licensing and Policy Branch, Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada

Jason Blackwell is currently a Strategic Advisor for the Spectrum Licensing and Policy Branch at Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada. Jason founded CANDEV in 2017, which is an innovation vehicle leveraging large-scale hackathon-type events to shuttle recruitment, GC brand awareness and solution delivery. He has also been very engaged with various interdepartmental committees that foster change and progress.

Heidi Boles is currently a Project Support Officer in the Human Resources Business Intelligence and Planning Division at Statistics Canada. She also played a pivotal role as a co-lead for CANDEV and is the Chair of the Statcan Young Professionals Network.

The data needs a message. Scott has always believed that the numbers don't speak for themselves, they're merely part of the visitor's story in each context. Scott Connery is a lead web and data analyst at NRCan where he co-leads the data driven decision-making approach. Over the past fifteen years Scott has been involved in analytics inside the Government of Canada, in the banking industry and freelance clients. In his previous role Scott led the analytics implementation team for Canada.ca and continues to be one of the Adobe Analytics trainers for the GC. While part of the analytics team at TD Bank he saw the potential of what analytics could mean to an organization that truly looks at data to drive decisions and the power of building strong analytics teams. Scott's background in graphic and web design have always led his view of the data - from the visitor's perspective.

His design skills have been applied to architectural design at the National Gallery of Canada, exhibit design at the Museum of History, and some of his work has even gone to the International Space Station. He is currently working at the Canada Revenue Agency in an effort to improve the citizen experience and reduce ‘tax pain’ for millions of Canadians.

As Chief Digital Officer at the Health Standards Organization (HSO) and its affiliate Accreditation Canada, Amy leads Software Engineering, Enterprise Business Platforms, IT services, Infrastructure, Marketing and Communications. Sarry Zheng, Innovation and Engagement Consultant, Canada’s Free Agents

Scientist by training, social scientist by trade, Sarry has lived in San Francisco, Beijing and São Paulo. Currently, she works on social impact projects, that transform business using data and design, in the public sector. Previously, she has worked closely with the founder of North Face and the SVP of Innovation at Schneider Electric to design a business course on global product development and corporate innovation. She helped to set up a Massive Open Online Course in innovation and entrepreneurship with Coursera for EIT Digital. She dances in the spheres of education, e-commerce, and creative industries, where she collaborates with start-up founders, academics, and industry leaders. In her spare time, she trains at The Second City as an improviser in Toronto.
