In light of recent well-publicized outbreaks and recalls, regulators--including FDA, FTC, USDA and FSIS--have announced their intention to increase scrutiny and enforcement across the food supply chain. At the same time, food companies are experiencing increased pressure from private plaintiffs and public interest groups to ensure not only that they are complying with food safety best practices, but also that their suppliers are meeting required safety standards.
