Using Information Technology to Automate, Enhance, and Streamline Internal Controls

This workshop will examine the role information technology can play in enhancing your internal control processes and integrating them into your everyday business activities. It will consider control automation, computer mediated testing, automatic monitoring and reporting of exceptions, intelligence analysis of results (risk and expert system based) and improved management information leading top earlier identification of problem trends. It will also consider the possible role of computers in detecting and preventing fraud. Lastly, it will look at the financial and human resource requirements for automating controls and provide some real world solutions to the most common implementation problems encountered by corporations and their finance, IT and internal audit departments.
